For the past hour, since Israel called back our pilots and stepped down from retaliation against Iran breaking the cease-fire, I’ve been thinking, reading, and analyzing the situation from all directions.
Here are my thoughts.
While the way Trump addressed Israel and demanded that we call off the strike is incredibly frustrating, we need a little perspective here.
I will remind you that Israel just carried out what was undoubtedly one of the most, if not the most impressive military operation in Israel’s history, and perhaps ever.
We brought Iran to its knees, eliminated their top generals, obliterated their nuclear program, and destroyed the majority of their ballistic missiles.
We removed Iran from from being an existential threat to the state of Israel. Anyone who tells you otherwise is simply lying.
They can lie and pretend that they even remotely achieved anything here, but it’s lies, and we achieved definitive and absolute victory.
It’s best if we ignore the propaganda of the Iranian regime. They lie, just like Hamas, Hezbollah, and the rest of the radical Islamic world lies. They lie like they breathe.
It’s not worth your time or attention listening to the things they tell their people.
We brought the Iranian regime to its knees, stepped on their neck, made them bleed, and yes, President Trump demanded that we don’t continue to kick them while they’re down, but let’s not get confused here, the Iranian regime isn’t just weakened, they are hanging on by a thread.
Yes, Trump made the wrong move today, but let’s not for a second forget his friendship and support throughout this operation as well as throughout the Gaza war.
I don’t think I need to list all of the things Trump has done for us from moving the embassy to putting the final nail in the coffin of the Iranian nuclear program.
Don’t for a second forget all of that just because of today’s decision.
A month ago, Israel was just days away from being attacked by Iran with a nuclear bomb. Days, maybe weeks. The fact that that is no longer a threat is astronomical in its significance.
The fact that Iran had tens of thousands of ballistic missiles each one of them able to cause the damage that we saw, and now, close to 70% of them are destroyed, that is huge!
The fact that the vast majority of Iran’s nuclear scientists were eliminated by Israel, so that even if they wanted to continue where they left off, they would be unable to do so, that is not trivial in any way.
Sure, it’s ok to be frustrated that Iran broke the ceasefire in order to test us, a test we failed miserably. I’m as frustrated as you.
As annoying as that is, it changes nothing in the grand scheme of things.
We removed the Iranian threat. Period. Full stop.
And for that, we owe gratitude to the IDF, the Israeli Air Force, Netanyahu, Trump, and of course, to Hashem.
That is really all that matters.
In five years from now, none of us will care that we didn’t retaliate today. What we will remember is that Israel defeated Iran in less than two weeks, an astounding military accomplishment.
The rest is insignificant.

DeleteThere is a concept in Judaism that rulers do not have free will concerning public affairs, based on the verse in Mishlei 21:1 'לב מלך ביד ה - “Lev Melachim V'Sarim B'Yad Hashem.” This means, “The hearts of kings and ministers are in the Hand of Hashem.” Hashem is the Supreme ruler of the world, and these politicians are only messengers, agents of Hashem, simple "puppeteers" if you will of a Higher Power.
Hashem is in control and runs the world and all that happens within it. Hashem is the ultimate source of all events, both significant and seemingly mundane.
A fundamental belief in Jewish thought is that "Nothing in this world happens without Hashem," emphasizing His constant presence and involvement in all aspects of creation. Nothing ever happens by chance as every event is seen as a deliberate act of Divine Providence. Every occurrence is seen as a product of Hashems Divine Will and has a purpose within the broader Divine plan.
No human being is ever denied their free will. The commentators say that because of the open miracles he was seeing, Paro's free will was being eroded and that's why Hashem "hardened his heart" - to restore his free will under the circumstances. The pasuk from Mishlei could just as easily be explained this way. Was Paro's heart in the hands of Hashem or not? He had a choice and that's why he continued to say "no." And was punished for it later.
DeleteWe are told that all of our enemies return at the End of Days to receive their judgment - if they truly had no free will when they did these things, there would be no basis upon which to judge them.
Take the most famous example: Hitler, y"sh, was already bent towards hatred of Jews so HKB"H gave him success to lead his nation and carry out what was already in his evil heart to do. Because it suited Hashem's purpose. But he did it with his free will intact and justly deserves whatever punishment he will receive.
As Tomer Devorah says on her blog, Trump is Gog, which I believe and have been saying for quite some time. Trump may repent but it’s not looking good. All those Jews who love Trump should wake up to reality that he very well may be Gog!!

People need to stop being so naive believing this so-called war did what they claim it didi. There was definitely duplicitous with this ceasefire and for all we know they dropped a couple of bombs in the dessert and then sent video of it around to make people think they actually bombed something. The same deep state who has been running the show for years is running this too; I am thoroughly convinced of it.

But IMO the epitome of arrogance is on the part of sociopaths who want to control the world by their takeover of AI, AI-robots and their transhumanistic aspirations. So why no mention of that?

I'm not familiar with these sources, other than Yeshiva World, which I trust. The article there is very troubling. We abandoned the Persian people, and especially the Jews. All this chest-pumping and no regard for the mess that has been created. It's the same thing the US did in Afghanistan, Cambodia and Vietnam. Why is our medinat not demanding to know and see the rabbonim they've rounded up? Instead we're doing PR talking about how great we are, and how Trump aka Eisav, is our best friend.

ReplyDeleteJudaism teaches that criticism should be done with care & empathy. It also places a strong emphasis on the importance of avoiding harmful speech and promotes the principle of "judging others favorably" (Dan L'Kaf Zchus). One should not be overly hasty to judge another negatively; instead, one should give another the benefit of the doubt. In particularly sensitive and trying times for Jews worldwide like we are in now, one needs to take great care in order to avoid causing additional damage.
Whilst that might be your (probably mistaken) belief, I'm assuming you do not know the full situation.
IMHO, respectfully disagree and feel somewhat saddened with your statements.
Judaism places a strong emphasis on the sanctity of human life and the obligation to redeem captives (Pidyon Shvuyim)
emphasizing the importance of freeing captives, in this case (that you mention) from unjust imprisonment. Pidyon Shvuyim is a major obligation of the community, according to Torah law. Rambam (Maimonides), “The redeeming of captives takes precedence over supporting the poor or clothing them. There is no greater mitzvah than redeeming captives” (Mishneh Torah, “Hilchot Matanot Aniyim” 8:10-11).
*Sometimes the approach of quiet diplomacy and advocacy behind the scences can be better achieved in a delicate situation like this one. Behind closed doors so to speak, conversations are significantly different from what may be reported in the media. Let's hope this is the case. May we only hear Besuros Tovos (Good Tidings).
"Tracht gut vet zein gut" is a Yiddish phrase that translates to "Think good and it will be good". The power and idea of positive thinking has an effect on our reality. Put your trust in Hashem (G-d).
In the meantime we can all engage in Davening (prayer) as a means of seeking Divine intervention for the release of those held captive. There are specific prayers and widespread communal engagement led by Rabbi's in this regard.

Also our Rabbonim & Jewish Leaders call upon every Jew regardless of background and affiliation to pray every day for our bretheren in Israel and they ask us to specifically recite Psalms 20, 83, 121, 130 & 142 during this critical time. The essence of these prayers is to connect to the Almighty and beseech His help and salvation. Additionally, these Psalms can and should also be recited for our bretheren unjustly held in Iran and anywhere else in the world. Psalms and prayers can be recited in any language you understand however,. traditional Judaism has always stressed the importance of praying in Hebrew.
May Hashem hear our heartfelt Tefillos (prayers) and grant the immediate and unconditional release of all our hostages.
May Klal Yisroel merit the Geulah Shleima/the coming of Moshiach immediately!
